Operations Technology (Ops Tech) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms that support our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.
Within Ops Tech, you will be part of the Ops Tech Service Excellence team. You will be responsible for driving resilience and compliance for the bank of tomorrow. The crews’ main areas of focus is improving end to end workflows and aligning to strategic cloud modernisation projects.
As an Engineer Manager, you will be leading engineers that report to you, instilling a growth mindset and innovative ways of working. You’ll also play an important role in steering the organisation by contributing to the strategy and determining which problems to invest in solving. You will bring a perfect blend of people management and technical knowledge to this team and will be responsible for shaping its evolution

Contribute to CommBank’s Engineering Management Practice by coaching and mentoring engineers and raising the bar for the discipline across the organization

Effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice

Manage workforce planning and creates a safe and trusted working environment where our engineers’ voices are heard

Encourage risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams
Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

Experience leading a high-performing engineering team with a solid technical background in.NET/Java

Excellent understanding of micro services architecture and API design patterns
-
Working knowledge of messaging system – Kafka preferred
-
Familiarity with containerisation and public cloud engineering – AWS preferred
-
Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline – TeamCity / Jenkins
-
Establish new ways of working and successfully advocated for new technology approaches
-
Ability to work across teams and influence great outcomes, and operate at times with ambiguity
