Digital Operations and Technology (DOT) is a centre of excellence within the Retail Banking Digital space and plays an integral part in the purpose and success of CommBank. We are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience across all digital touch points.

Within DOT, you’ll be part of our Insurance Distribution team responsible for building sophisticated green-field customer journeys for our array of life, income, health, and superannuation products. Your skills in front-end development will help us deliver intuitive, best-practice designs, and you’ll be working closely with our architects and vendors to securely integrate with downstream systems.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for shaping the evolution of the system by contributing end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery, with opportunities to learn more about front-end engineering, API development, and systems integration. You’ll also be invited to participate in our regular engineering guilds and provide technical guidance and mentoring to our junior members of the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

Essential

• Demonstrated experience developing applications using Microsoft technologies such as C#, Asp.Net and .Net Core

• Excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns

• Knowledge of how to apply best-practice security techniques to web applications and APIs

• Ability to develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic

Desirable

• Familiarity with containerisation and public cloud engineering (AWS or Azure)

• Expertise with modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular or React)

• Event based application models with Kafka

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Oracle, and NoSql DBs

• Troubleshooting complex technical issues involving multiple system components
