Job Summary

This position will have responsibility for coordinating the implementation and integration of Epic clinical or ancillary applications. This position works closely with applications and technical teams to ensure the efficient flow of information and data. Ensures that plans are followed and issues resolved in a manner that results in a successful implementation. Functions in a consultative role using advanced problem-solving and analytical skills to implement, upgrade and support complex application systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Serves as a primary technical liaison to end users for new requirements and issues related to applications.
• Acts as a general internal consultant on application architecture initiatives.
• Collaborates with leadership on development of application standardization.
• Responsible for providing/setting direction on application architecture.
• Supports standardization of documentation and the integration of standards and practices.
• Maintains knowledge of new developments and research related to application packages and healthcare IT trends.
• Evaluates IT updates and revisions; coordinates testing of updates and revisions.
• Oversees efforts with key vendors to understand future application product plans in conjunction with IT leadership.
• Oversees complex configuration of applications based on user and vendor requirements on major application environments.
• Works closely with managers, project managers and business partner leaders to define and develop or implement major software applications.
• Works with IT staff, business partners and leadership to help them understand potential application functionality, development approaches, possible enhancements and process improvements.
• Provides advanced level application technical support to resolve problems.
• Works with IT staff to integrate processes with application systems.
• Works with enterprise architecture teams to integrate application architecture into enterprise architecture.
• Stays connected with industry best practices and vendor specific application methodologies.
• Contributes to the growth and development of application IT staff through education activities in support of the software application.
• Works closely with committees as a liaison to aligning needs with application functionality.
• Works with Application Analysts on planning for implementation of new application modules and enhancements.
• Works with Application Analysts on planning for maintenance releases and problem resolution
• Additional tasks/responsibilities as defined.
• May require on-call coverage responsibilities.

Product Owner Responsibility on Agile Efforts:

• Manage Intake Queue
• Work with Lead Engineer to write detailed stories for the Scrum Team
• Engage with the Markets and CIs to prioritize the work
• Prioritize the Backlog
• Represent the stakeholder needs to the Scrum Team
• Confirm the commitment to deliver on the requests/stories
• Ensure the stories meet the business requirements and are validated
• Add and update the Agile tool to reflect the Market Priorities
• Attending Team Ceremonies to provide needed feedback including:
• Product Backlog and Intake
• Backlog Grooming and Story Development
• Daily Stand Up
• Sprint Planning
• Sprint Review
• Sprint Retrospective

• Prioritized backlog
• Communicate the request feasibility back to the markets
• Review Intake Questionnaire
• Pre-write Stories for Engineering Team consideration
• Evaluate the stories against the original request
• Ensure Training criteria has been satisfied
• Ensure Release management criteria has been satisfied and communicated to stakeholders
• Stakeholder management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience in a Healthcare environment.
• Certified in at least 2 clinical or ancillary Epic applications and have experience implementing the applications preferred
• 5 years of experience implementing and/or supporting clinical or ancillary Epic applications
• Prefer experience as epic application lead during one or more implementations
• Experience demonstrating Epic functionality to business owners
• Prefer Experience developing application roadmaps
• Agile process knowledge
