Colville Valley Junior Academy Hiring for Middle School Principal Job at Colville, WA Full Time

This is a hybrid position (Principal/Grade 5-8 Teacher) in a small private adventist christian school of approximately 45 students, 3 staff, and a few volunteers. In addition to teaching, the Principal will make sure that an elementary and middle school is operating efficiently by overseeing teachers and students every day. Principal will hire and train teachers, volunteers and other team members. Principal will work closely with board members and parents to communicate any important announcements or information regarding the school and its students.

Typical day:

1. Arrive to school/classroom an hour before the start of the school day, grade assignments, set up work stations or review lesson plans for the day.

2. Principal greets students as they arrive to the classroom and make sure everyone puts their belongings in their cubbies. Pass out fun warm-up activities or allow students to have free time while they wait for everyone to arrive.

3. After morning announcements, they review the day’s schedule with their students and collect homework assignments from the previous day.

4. Throughout the day, the principal/teacher devotes set times to math, science, english and history. During lunch – tidy up the classroom, prepare for afternoon lessons and catch up on grading.

5. Before dismissal – pass out homework assignments and answer questions. Spend a few hours after school grading papers and preparing for the next day’s activities.

6. Personally interact with parent groups to promote positive school/community relations. The position has moderate stress levels due to frequent interruptions, student interactions and discipline. Varied hours that include after school activities, evenings and weekends.

7. Outreach – Principal incorporates community resources into the school program. Engage in community and church events to promote the school.

To qualify for the position of a principal, an applicant should have the following:

• A Master’s degree in education is considered the minimum qualifying credential. If Bachelor’s degree in education, minimum of five years of working experience as a school leader or principal
• Communication skills to develop a productive educational experience for both teachers and students
• Strive and promote student excellence
• Adventist christian background is preferred or profession of faith in Jesus Christ and the Bible.
• Ideal candidates typically have advanced experience in education, effective problem solving and conflict management skills to provide quick and logical solutions to issues that the school may undergo.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $94,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
