POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Support Worker II is responsible for performing a
full range of skilled work in prepping, preparing, painting,
refinishing, and maintaining interior and exterior surfaces. The
incumbent will also assist with office moves, furniture moves and
event set ups. The incumbent will respond to requests involving
hanging pictures, assembling and disassembling office furniture,
recycling and installing and repairing paper towel and soap
dispensers. In addition, the Facilities Support Worker II will be
on-call for emergency clean up and snow removal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Facilities Support – 50%
Prepares surfaces to be painted by performing drywall repair, skim
coating, mudding, washing, taping, patching, scraping, and sanding.
Paints interior and exterior campus spaces in accordance with the
college’s paint palette such as classrooms, offices, lobby areas,
and buildings by using a full range of application methods
including brush, roll, spray; mixes and matches paints and
finishes. Cleans and maintain brushes, rollers, and equipment;
safely stores materials in designated area and dispose of material
according to federal, state, and local regulations. Maintains paint
inventory and records.
Purchases materials and paint with Supervisor’s approval. Meets
with customers to discuss paint color options in accordance with
the college’s established paint palette.
Performs daily walk through of building to ensure cleanliness and
appearance of facilities by monitoring classrooms, offices,
lobbies, restrooms, stairwells and secured administrative areas.
Reacts accordingly to fix any sub- standards. Reports all issues to
Facilities Support Lead. Enters, fulfills, and submits completed
work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Completes Monthly Safety Skills training in a timely manner and
incorporates into daily practices. May assemble office furniture to
manufacturer specifications, including but not limited to
workstations, tables, desks, bookcases, shelves, filing cabinets,
and chairs. Disassembles office furniture as needed. Hangs coat
racks, banners, shelves, mirrors, clocks, bulletin boards,
blackboards, chair rail, and pictures according to customers’
requests and ADA specifications. May conduct regular and routine
building upkeep duties to include, but not limited to changing
clock and dispenser batteries, resetting clocks, installing and
repairing paper towel and soap dispensers.
Moves office and conference room furniture, such as desks, chairs,
cabinets, bookcases, etc. within rooms, between buildings, regional
learning centers and campuses. Replaces, remove or reorganize
classroom and lobby furnishings on campus and at off-campus sites.
May operate fork-lift to move and relocate heavy furnishings or
equipment. Assists in moving items such as stage equipment, tables
and chairs in support of event set-ups for campus meetings,
classroom activities, public events, or conferences.
Recycling – 35%
Schedules and participates in the collecting, handling, and
delivery of recyclable material from campus locations. Inspects
collection barrels, carts, dumpsters, and other department
receptacles. Collects, removes, compacts and disposes of trash and
refuse. Operates the cardboard compactor and delivers cardboard,
paper, scrap metal or any recyclables to local collection site.
Requisitions, stores, and issues containers for recycling
operation.
Maintains records and prepares monthly status reports about volume
and type of recycling activity. Organizes, promotes, and documents
all recycling practices on campus. Educates college employees and
student groups on recycling best practices. Responds to questions
and suggestions regarding the recycling program. Recommends
modifications or improvements to collection processes.
Environmental Cleaning Support & Snow Removal Operations –
10%
Performs minor cleaning tasks, if necessary. Sweeps, dusts, mops
floors, and empties trash. Operates carpet cleaner and spot-cleans
carpet. Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, and other fixtures.
Uses various cleaning agents. Performs external leaf removal within
25ft of assigned building entrances. Locates and removes any
inappropriate markings, stickers, decals, advertisement, or
graffiti. Responds and performs emergency floor cleanup. Performs
safe clean-up, removal, and disposal of blood-borne pathogens and
other infections or hazardous materials. Responds and performs
emergency flood cleanup. Participates in snow removal, as assigned.
Utilizes shovels, snow blowers, tractors, salt spreaders, and
trucks for snow removal. Cleans walkways, stairs, parking lots, and
roadways of snow and ice. Applies salt, calcium, and sand to
various areas to melt ice and provide safe conditions. Assists with
flood cleanup.

Schedule and Dependability
Regular, predictable and punctual attendance is required; works
assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and
works overtime, as required to meet workload demand.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office working conditions; subject to adverse environmental
conditions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of: standard practices in facilities support; use
of tools necessary to perform assigned tasks; common safety methods
including use of personal protective equipment.
Skilled in: Verbal and written communications; Microsoft
Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to: work independently; develop and maintain
effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, job
contacts, and general public; analyze processes and make
recommendations for improvement; maintain accurate and complete
work records.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; one (1) year experience performing
facilities support services and three (3) years of demonstrated
painting experience.
State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or demonstrable ability to
gain access to work site(s).
Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial
and continued employment. Possession of or ability to obtain
required Forklift Operator’s Certificate within 45 days of
employment.
