Reporting directly to the Provost, the Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EOAA) has overall responsibility for the management of the University’s policies and procedures on discrimination, harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking (including the EOAA Policies and Procedures and the Gender-Based Misconduct and Interim Title IX Policies and Procedures for Students (at the beginning of the 2023-24 Academic Year); coordinates compliance activities under these policies and the applicable federal, state and local laws; and is designated as the University’s compliance officer for Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other equal opportunity, nondiscrimination and affirmative action laws. The Vice Provost also manages the staff of EOAA (12 team members) and the Gender-Based Misconduct staff (9-12 team members) (at the beginning of the 2023-24 Academic Year).

Responsibilities:Â
In partnership with the Title IX Coordinator, provide strategic leadership and overall management of misconduct investigations under the University’s policies and procedures on discrimination, harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking; oversee compliance with all relevant requirements and timelines.Â
In conjunction with the Title IX Coordinator, monitor and conduct periodic reviews of the University’s Title IX sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual misconduct and relationship violence, VAWA, and Clery Act policies, procedures, and prevention programs.Â
Oversee the resolution of complex internal investigations against employees and third-party affiliates of the University for claims of discrimination, harassment and gender-based misconduct and recommend courses of resolution.Â
Provide information about the University’s policies and procedures on equal opportunity, affirmative action, discrimination, harassment and sexual assault. This includes preparing and publishing an annual EOAA report with aggregate data and information about EOAA investigations.
Implement and manage the training for faculty, staff and students on discrimination, harassment and gender based misconduct.Â
Provide Clery reportable information to Public Safety and as Section 504 Compliance Officer, review Clery Report.Â
Collaborate with Human Resources to monitor the University’s employment and compensation systems to evaluate their impact on women, minorities, veterans and individuals with disabilities.Â
Oversee the University’s Academic Search and Recruiting (Interfolio), including managing waivers and departmental Standard Search Recruitment Process.Â

In partnership with the Senior Associate Director, lead and conduct training for administrators using Interfolio and oversee and training for faculty, researchers, librarians and staff for best practices in conducting fair, open and equitable searches.
Oversee the waiver procedures for senior administrative officers in the University’s staff applicant tracking system (TalentLink).Â
Â
Lead the strategic planning and management of the EOAA operational budget, including the authorization of personnel costs and event programming. Oversight of EOAA account and budget activity (payment processing, reimbursements, interdepartmental billing, purchase orders, reconciliation etc.) via the work of the EOAA Operations Manager.
Supervise the Director of the Metropolitan New York & Southern Connecticut Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (MNYSC HERC).Â

Affirmative Action ResponsibilitiesÂ
Â
Manage governmental audits and investigations under federal, state and local equal opportunity, nondiscrimination and affirmative action laws.Â
Oversee and manage the development and publication of the annual Affirmative Action Program (AAP) for women, minorities, veterans and individuals with disabilities for the University’s three campuses.Â
Develop and produce the quadrennial Affirmative Action Plan under Title IX (sex discrimination).Â
Responsible for monitoring and implementing the University’s overall efforts to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.Â
Develop programs to address issues related to disability access and accommodations; involved in drafting and revision of such policies and procedures.Â
Review all reports and complaints raising disability access and accommodation issues and consult on all University disability access and accommodation responses.Â
Oversee training and develop programs to address issues related to disability access and accommodation.Â
Oversee and manage the development and publication of the Annual Report of Disability Access and Accommodations for the University’s four campuses.Â
Prepare University’s Section 504 transition plan and assist in the preparation of other University plans related to disability.Â
