Description:
The Department of Visual Arts & Music at Columbia College
invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant
Professor of Art beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. Customarily
3-3 teaching load; the primary teaching responsibilities will
include Jewelry I-IV—as well as teaching foundation-level studio
art courses (such as 2D Design and 3D Design). The ability to teach
Digital Art courses (such as Digital Media and Video) would be
beneficial as well. We encourage the integration of alternative
processes involving assemblage, small metals, 3D modeling, and new
media, and we value global and cross-cultural perspectives.
The primary responsibility of this position is teaching and
mentoring students in the traditional Day campus. The opportunity
to design innovative curriculum for both in-seat and online venues
also exists with this position. The successful candidate will
maintain an active creative practice and will contribute to the
department and college community via service, including committee
work, gallery support, curricular development, etc. Competitive
salary commensurate with credentials and experience.
This position will support several programs including the B.A. in
Art, B.A. in Graphic Design, and the Bachelor of Fine Arts. The
Department of Visual Arts & Music currently has 7 other

Qualifications:
Applicants must have an MFA in a relevant studio art field. Prior
collegiate teaching experience and a record of professional
activities is also preferred. The position requires an ability to
develop and effectively teach undergraduate courses, a commitment
to student-centered learning, excellent communication,
interpersonal skills, and demonstrated commitment to diversity,
equity and inclusion.
