The Colorado Trails Ranch Ranch Maintenance Manager is responsible for the caretaking and maintenance of our 1000-acre guest ranch. Managers must be team players who work well with the other managers and foster strong positive relationships with the seasonal team members. You must have a “can do” hospitality attitude, be friendly and welcoming to guests, and treat everyone with respect and consideration.

• Commercial well water system
• Buildings, cabins, staff housing, barn, lodge
• Grounds, landscaping, trees, lawn irrigation
• Heavy equipment operation (skid steer, excavator, tractors)
• Swimming pool and spa
• Ponds
• Weed management
• Fencing
• Equipment and vehicle preventative maintenance
• Leased property hay pastures including irrigation, fertilization, weed control, and harrowing
• Fire mitigation
• Burning of slash and wood debris
• Forest management
• Shop organization and small equipment/tool maintenance
• Maintenance and safekeeping of firearms and shooting range
• Supervision of 2-4 maintenance staff
• Ranch security
• Winter snow removal

Colorado Trails is comprised of 12 guest cabins, 9 staff living buildings, a 100-seat dining lodge with a commercial kitchen, workshop, office, meeting room, and several outbuildings. We also have a large horse and tack barn. Knowledge of horses and livestock would be helpful.

Aside from ranch maintenance, you may be asked to drive the guest shuttle, dine with the guests, participate in cookouts, and take the guests boating and shooting. This is a hands-on working position and often can be extremely physical and require long hours during peak season.

As a manager you will be responsible for 2-4 seasonal maintenance helpers. You will train and supervise as needed. You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership abilities, not only to your department but as a management team member.

CPR certification and first aid card are required, and classes will be offered at Colorado Trails in May.

Work Week:

You will have 1 ½ days off per week during busy guest weeks. Slower weeks you may take 2 days off. Days off may not always be consecutive.

You will be expected to work 45-55 hours per week during peak guest season.

Winter slow season is from Nov 1st through March 31st. These slow off-season months you are expected to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Probable Schedule for Operations Manager:

This schedule is an approximation that will vary with the ranch’s guest count and the teamwork displayed by the seasonal staff. The operations manager’s hours will fluctuate based on each day’s activities and the number of guests staying on the ranch. Saturday and the first half of Sunday is planned time off. The operations manager will also be expected to perform other/additional duties as assigned. The operations manager may be expected to work should a critical issue arise.

Base salary DOE
