We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and experienced Early years manager with a love for the outdoors to lead and collaborate with our wonderful team of experienced and passionate staff.

The nursery is a unique community nursery established for nearly 60 years. It is a registered charity overseen by a management committee (MC) made up of parents. CGN provides a special setting on a conservation site, boasting a wild and magical outdoor garden space, in an historic part of central London. We pride ourselves on providing children with the opportunity to discover and develop their skills in an outdoor setting with a strong focus on forest school and environmental sustainability. The Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the EYP to ensure all areas of curriculum provision are covered a well as the operational running of the charity. In addition to include any SENCO or targeted plans to assist children’s developmental needs and work with local authorities to secure funding and additional support when needed. We are looking for an experienced Manager to help lead and drive the team to deliver excellent early years education. This role requires a strong, communicative, caring and experienced team leader who has a passion to continuously provide the best early years provision. Furthermore, is inspired by the ethos of Forest School, and is committed to the learning and development of both the staff and the children. We are a charity that has the potential to reach the wider community through regular events and parent led activities. The Manager is responsible for: working with the MC, the Deputy Manager and the Entire team to ensure all areas of curriculum provision are covered; and advising the MC of legal and educative requirements relating to nursery provision.

We need a dynamic leader to drive administrative responsibilities at the nursery, although these are shared with the Deputy, you will be required to:

• Ensure effective staff recruitment. Supervise and manage staff, volunteers and students, conducting regular staff meetings and staff assessment, organising and monitoring training and developing team work. Ensuring staff are supported in their remit to provide high-quality education

• Fulfill any legal requirements and ensure all documents are delivered within the specified deadlines for companies house and the charity commission.

• Organise staff rotas to include holidays, sick days and any issues raised.

• Set budgets, yearly forecasts update quick books and the treasurer on monthly expenditure

• Apply for grants and fundraising avenues

• Enrolments and filling any vacancies to include advertising and word of mouth marketing.

• Liaise with parents and send monthly updates

• Act as a facilitator between the staff and the MC in delivering exceptional education to include creative outdoor play and introducing new activities and innovative ways to learn.

• Forest school experience is desirable but not a must

• Knowledge of SEN is essential but not a must

Essential applicant qualities:

• Proven experience of managing a nursery.

• Level 3 Childcare NVQ or equivalent.

• Proven ability to lead and manage a team of colleagues to deliver high standards and results.

• Ability to self-manage self and work calmly under pressure.

• Commitment to – and understanding of – diversity and equality.

• Ability to work with parents and to encourage their involvement.

Desirable Criteria:

• Room Leader experience

• A Degree in Early Childhood studies

• Forest School qualification

• Paediatric First Aid certified.

• A love of nature (outdoorsy person)

• Creative, resourceful person

Salary: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
