Role overview:

This position within Collins Aerospace Australia is for a Senior Finance Manager leading a team of experienced professionals predominantly based out of Lane Cove, Sydney. Building trust and respect by working with integrity to achieve excellence and drive innovation, this position develops, directs, plans and analyses financial standing, programs and procedures. With responsibility for proper documentation of financial standing for audit and regulatory purposes, this leader will coordinate account and payroll functions whilst making company plans and recommendations based on financial data.

Acting as part of the local senior leadership team, the role provides the opportunity to work with diverse cross-functional and cross-border teams across the wider Collins Aerospace, providing financial insight and guidance in support of business decisions to achieve stated objectives, whilst ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Primary responsibilities:

• Manages the daily operations of the local Finance function to support the business plans of the organisation
• Leads a team responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis, Integrated Program Planning & Control, General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Pricing, Payroll and Sales Order Administration
• Responsible for workforce planning including selection of future employees as well as development and performance management of current employees
• Oversees general accounting processes such as cash management, government accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, and balance sheet management
• Drives the preparation and presentation of management and corporate reporting requirements to ensure integrity of information and keep management updated on key information
• Leads the development of key elements of operational plans for financial analysis, research, and forecasts to support short and long-term business goals and decisions
• Advises senior leadership on financial matters and the potential impact on the operations of the business
• Provides consultation to functional or operational area managers on key financial issues
• Leads the development of key elements of strategic and financial plans, including revenue and cost profiles, cost reductions, earned value management, budget and policy recommendations, and medium-term planning activities
• Evaluates and recommends strategies for financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximise investments, and increase efficiency
• Executes financial activities, including cost reduction strategies, while supporting general and administrative accounting initiatives and budget and policy processes
• Conducts or assists in the documentation of cost, government and project accounting in addition to attending to financial reporting
• Ensures all financial transactions are in accordance with GAAP and all necessary statutory requirements as well as being compliant with internal controls, processes and procedures
• Reviews controls for the financial activities of the organisation to ensure they are conducted accurately, ethically, consistently and according to relevant policies, procedures, regulations, laws, and standards
• Develops and maintains accounting principles and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements
• Directs support for operation finance activities such as programs, pricing, business development and supply chain
• Ensures payroll activities are conducted accurately and compliantly in accordance with relevant regulations, laws and standards
• Supports internal and external audit for controls and compliance adherence

Skills and experience:

Essential

• Demonstrable finance background with leadership experience
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and work with diverse teams

Desirable

• Knowledge of SAP
• Good communicator
• Experience working in a global matrixed organisation
