In 2023, we are setting up a brand new business within Coles Group – Coles Wholesale Services. We’ve already signed on our first customer and are getting ready to launch. As a result, we seek to employ an experienced Finance Manager who will head the Coles Wholesale Services Finance team. You will work closely with the Wholesale leadership team, supply chain, merchandise and pricing team. Your role will form an integral part of this new business, helping us kick off strongly and then helping to shape and deliver the long-term strategy.

We are seeking to employ a skilled and passionate Finance professional with a solid background and ideally previous experience in the Wholesale sector. You will have significant experience in running a large Wholesale business (or similar) and will be able to conduct all reporting; manage large invoicing processes and provide in-depth analysis to the senior management team.

About the role

You will:

• Partner with and support senior leaders in Coles Wholesale Services to provide commercial decision support.
• Responsible for cost allocation, reporting, invoicing activities, true-up processes for costs and rebate/settlements.
• Quality control of all cost and invoicing processes to ensure compliant audit
• Actively monitor results against targets, assessing risks, opportunities, provide recommendations and challenge financial decision making.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to a small team of Finance Business Partners and/or Business Analysts and/or Graduates.
• Manage the budget process for Coles Wholesale Services
• Manage the forecasting process for Coles Wholesale Services
• Lead the development of better ways of working and system/process improvement.
• Autonomously lead financial control, governance and integration for strategic programs for the area of the business this role supports.
• Coach and mentor a team of finance professionals responsible for providing ongoing strategic analysis, decision support, financial reporting, planning & forecasting, and financial transactional processing, within a Wholesale environment

It is essential that you have

• Finance experience in a wholesale environment is desirable but not essential with the right combination of experience in retail.
• Varied finance background covering Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivables and Payables, and Planning & Analysis.
• Direct experience in engaging and influencing internal stakeholders are highly desirable
• Experience in developing and managing high-performance finance teams
• Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders to challenge and influence them to create sound commercial and financial outcomes
• Proven experience in delivering financial control information to identify business opportunities/challenges, recommend alternate actions, and oversee the implementation
• Proven ability to deal with complexities and high-level information
• Self-starter who displays tolerance, innovation, creativity, decisiveness, flexibility and open-mindedness to alternative views.

Skills & Background Desired

• CPA (or equivalent) with five years post-qualification experience.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, including influencing, communication, and presentation (both verbal and written).
• Highly developed team management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and development skills.
• Ability to actively challenge accountable managers (both internal and external) on performance on business results.
• Highly effective and developed verbal and written communication skills
• Proven capability of facilitating the development of departmental initiatives linked to business objectives.
• Exposure to IT systems and reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of the businesses and functions it supports.
• Displays competent technical skills in accounting, principles, quantitative analysis and corporate governance.
• Experience with SAP, TM1, Visual Insights and Power BI
