Job Summary

Rakerman/Asphalt Labourer will perform tasks involving physical labour at parking lots and roadways by operating one or several types of maintenance equipment. This position may also require routine repair and maintenance of equipment in addition to other duties.

Main Responsibilities

Rakerman

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Use of vacuum truck, push blower and/or wire broom to clean surface prior to application of seal coat or crack fill material.

Preparation of surface utilizing an asphalt crack router to open surface cracks prior to filling.

Application of crack fill material utilizing a crack seal kettle and a wand.

Application of seal coat material utilizing a long handled squeegee and/or spray wand.

Manual labour including shovelling, and raking.

Occasional equipment operation; including a skid steer or highway broom.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Asphalt Labourer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General labourer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.

Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.

Equipment clean-up as needed.

May be called upon to run small power tools.

Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.

Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification/ Requirement

Prefer 1-2 seasons experience as a rakerman/labourer on municipal & industrial/commercial base & pave projects.

Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.

Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.

Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Be able to work overtime when required.

Must have strong work ethic.

Ability to work in a team setting.

Communication skills; Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times.

Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

Must have a valid drivers license.
