Job Summary

Valley Blacktop, part of the Terus Construction Ltd. group, is looking to hire a seasonal Milling Machine Operator based in Revelstoke, BC.

Duties/Tasks

Able to operate a Milling Machine to desired specifications.

Use machinery to mill asphalt on road and related surfaces

Operate equipment in such a way that the work place around the equipment is safe for all workers

Inspect equipment before and after each use, including oil, transmission fluid, and greasing

Responsible for daily checks of the milling drum, conveyors and water supply systems.

Responsible for daily inspection and replacement of milling teeth on the milling drum to assure proper cutting patterns on pavement surfaces.

Perform general labourer duties as assigned

Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.

Other duties as required

Technical Skills

Must be able to operate the Milling Machine safely and efficiently.

Some mechanical aptitude.

Knowledge of road construction procedures.

Knowledge of applicable safety legislation

Ability to identify safety hazards.

Requirements

Class 1 Driver’s License preferred, Class 5 licence minimum

Working Conditions

Travel as required.

Overtime as required.

Use of personal protection equipment is required.

Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.

Must comply with all company policies.

Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
