Colas Hiring for Accounts Assistant Job at Birmingham, England Full Time

We currently have an opportunity in our finance team for a part qualified Assistant Accountant. The role of the Assistant Accountant is to provide accounting support in the consolidation and reporting of the Company’s monthly management accounts both internally and to shareholders and assisting in preparing VAT and company tax computations

Main Responsibilities

This role will involve supporting the financial reporting department (a team of 5 people), including preparation of monthly management accounts, maintenance of the general ledger and all other appropriate duties assigned by the Head Office Accountant, to whom this role reports.

You will be involved in all areas of the department including preparing accruals and prepayments for month end review, posting journals and preparing monthly activity reports. There will be responsibility for coding and clearing invoices and providing balance sheet reconciliation for your areas of responsibility. You will participate in VAT returns, schedules in relation to corporation tax and intercompany recharges.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role you will need to be an enthusiastic team player willing to assist in all functions of this busy department. You will need experience of month end closure and posting accruals and prepayments. Knowledge preferably of JD Edwards but at least familiar with an ERP system, is an essential requirement. You will be part way through your studies of becoming a qualified accountant, with a desire to complete your qualifications. The company will provide support to enable you to achieve this.

Part – Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA…), plus desire to complete qualification
