Job description

The candidate will supervise a team of 1-2 providing finance and operational support for the international payments business.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Principal responsibilities

• Assists with budget preparation and tracking
• Posts financial data to appropriate accounts in the company’s accounting system
• Enters, updates, and/or retrieves accounting data from systems
• Reconciles transactions, financial data, and other information to the company’s accounting system
• Management of accounting software (Xero)
• Assist with financial statement preparation and providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements
• Tax classification and preparation of BAS reporting
• Compliance verification and assisting with board / shareholder reporting
• Maintaining internal control systems
• Processes payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, to the company’s accounting software
• Verifies policies billed against applications received and reconciles differences through follow-up with the provider and/or other employees

Secondary responsibilities

• Insurance renewals and extensions
• Handles reconciliations, refunds, commissions as well as daily, weekly & monthly payments.
• Banking, invoicing and credit card reconciliation
• Managing a small team
• Ad-hoc research activities

• Experience managing individuals
• 3+ years relevant experience in an accounting, operations or customer support focused position
• Bachelor degree qualified in a finance or accounting related field

This position will also be the primary Finance and Operations lead for our China business. Fluent Mandarin and proven customer service experience in the Chinese market are essential for the successful candidate.

Operating in the international education sector we have a strong preference for candidates who have been exposed to international education themselves. Additionally, the candidate will preferably have an accounting qualification (CPA, CA), a masters in an accounting related field or be studying to attain such qualifications.
