Summary: Provides quality support in the analysis, design, development, maintenance, and modification of the operating system and auxiliary software products required to support a mainframe CPU and multi-faceted systems environment. Provides technical support for the information systems staff and other users of the hospital’s computer system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Develops, with management team, short and long term software and hardware requirements.
· Confers with department managers to analyze current operation procedures, pinpoint problem areas, and determine areas for potential improvement of information services.
· Prepares report summarizing findings and presents to department managers to ensure that a proper consensus has been reached about needed system modifications.
· Reviews capabilities of present system, workflow, and scheduling limitations to see if present system can accommodate necessary modifications.
· Meets with possible vendors to discuss possible hardware upgrades; makes recommendations to management concerning large capital expenditures.
· Oversees installation of new systems; trains personnel in proper operation; and monitors dual operation of old and new systems to eliminate bugs.
· Participates in conversion conversations discussions regarding new methods of operation.
· On an ongoing basis, observes efficiency of current operating system and devises methods of improving information by minor programming and procedural changes.
· Provides technical assistance as needed.
· Attends in-service training programs.
· Maintain confidentiality regarding patients, residents, families, staff, and organization.
· Develop and maintain a professional demeanor and rapport with residents, visitors, and staff.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BA.) in computer science is desired; with two to four years experience in Information Technology in a hospital environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
