THE TEAM:

The Financial Accounting Team is responsible for P&L reporting, balance sheet management and the period end close. They are also responsible for managing business reporting, the external audit, ensuring SOX compliance and assisting with business projects/acquisitions.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Financial Controller – Australia and working closely with other managers across the wider team, this role will help to drive best practice procedures around Financial Control.

This is a highly visible role working closely with various stakeholders across the organisation. As a leader you will be a key driver for positive change, lead change management to develop better ways of doing business, drive team performance and continue to build employee engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading a team of 5 qualified Assistant Accountants and Accountant/Senior Analyst that are responsible for expense management, payroll accounting, sales accounting and financial accounting
• Jointly lead the month end close period including P&L reporting
• Oversee balance sheet general ledger reconciliations, journal entries and key month end accounting activities
• Execution of Financial Control SOX controls ensuring governance and compliance
• Maintaining SOX documentation, performing SOX walk throughs and supporting the business to achieve compliance
• Budget and forecast activities on key balance sheet accounts
• Support the research and documentation of complex accounting matters, including providing technical advice
• Managing the risk and opportunities presented within the Balance Sheet
• Providing the finance support behind a range of dynamic business initiatives, projects and acquisitions as required

ABOUT YOU:

• CPA/CA qualification
• Technically strong accounting knowledge
• Superior interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff at all levels, and third parties.
• Self-motivated & self-directed, with an ability to work autonomously and contribute to the team.
• Strong Business and Financial Acumen, with proven ability to think creatively
• Ability to engage collaboratively with all stakeholders, influence key decision makers and champion best in practice.
• Proven track record for delivering accurate reporting within tight deadlines.
• 8-10 years’ experience in accounting related roles
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Ability to engage and develop others within the team
• SAP experience preferable
