Job Title: (Inland US)Logistics Specialist

Position Description: The Export/Logistics Specialist will oversee daily inventory management and logistics operations. Achieves this by keeping up with day-to-day container (mainly), truck, rail and barge flows to port. In addition, efficient management of bookings and billings with various container lines and service providers through different booking systems. Maintain a close relationship with local plant managers to remain agile when schedules change in accordance with varying production or minor disruptions, leading to changes in the logistics chain.

Primary Objectives

Assist the North America Execution Team for a mid-sized international trading company with projects, special assignments and perform departmental tasks throughout a growing supply chain.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Support the coordination of domestic and international cargo movements.
• Assist in the procurement processes for suppliers and service providers.
• Help with the maintenance and reconciliation of inventories.
• Schedule shipments to ensure delivery by promised deadlines.
• Receive orders and assigns shipments to appropriate carriers.
• Laser focus on coordinating container bookings and trucking schedules with delivery deadlines to avoid accessorial fees and container demurrage/detention charges.
• Monitors inventory via an enterprise resource planning system or similar control system.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management practices and procedures.
• Specific experience in container freight markets and operations
• Preferred experience in bulk ocean freight, port operations, trucking, rail freight, and execution
• Preferred experience in logistics, wood or feed pellet production and ERP systems (preferably Microsoft D365)
• Preferred knowledge of sustainability certification systems and management
• Demonstrated ability to handle numerous tasks, projects, supply lines, clients, and vendors simultaneously.
• Strong skills in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Must have an organized, structured mindset, while being detail-oriented and able to follow through with tasks to their conclusion.
• Excellent communicator.
• Able to work independently on multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Distinctive self-initiative with effective communication skills
• Able to comprehend complex problems and systems.

Education and Experience

• Two to five years of experience in shipping, supply chain, operations, or logistics related field required.
• Container experience strongly preferred.
• Trucking experience required.
• Fluency in Spanish is not required but a plus.
