You will…

• Own the engineering decisions and lead a high quality engineering team within a wider business area.
• Convert group level objectives into efficient team deliverables.
• Own the design and development of business critical features.
• Drive the performance and delivery capability of your team.
• Work with PMs to ensure the team can work efficiently and deliver value quickly.
• Develop a deep understanding of multiple parts of their stack as well as the processes and technologies relevant to their consumer tech space.
• Provide ongoing feedback on your team members’ technical & leadership performance.
• Provide structured performance reviews to identify high and low performers.
• Significantly contribute to their expansion plans, including their headcount growth efforts. You will look to raise the hiring bar for not only your team but the overall organisation.
• Help raise the bar further by contributing to best practices, automation and documentation.
• Support operational excellence and make measurable improvements to their support processes.
• Be comfortable in a work culture that prioritises speed, care, and effectiveness and you’ll have the freedom to pursue your own ideas and solutions.
• Be an excellent judge of future talent for the client helping them achieve their bold expansion objectives by taking part (and sometimes leading) technical interviews ensuring a consistent bar is met.

About you:

• You’re a proven leader who cares about your team, is keen to share your knowledge and is open to giving (and receiving) continuous feedback. You will be a manager of Junior Engineers through to Staff Engineers.
• You’re a strong communicator and thrive working cross-functionally with disciplines from operations to design and growth to finance.
• You’re product-minded and understand the trade-offs between quality and delivering fast.
• Invites participation and devolves responsibility for software design, constructively working to level-up the capability of other engineers in your squad.
• Sets high standards for your squad in terms of software quality and delivery performance. You speak candidly when standards are not met and work with your team to continually raise the bar.
• Deep understanding and obsession with the details.
• A love for the world of investments.

Salary: £70,000.00-£90,000.00 per year
