We are currently looking for a Plant Operator for immediate hire. The ideal candidate must be dedicated, hard-working, and punctual. No experience is needed we will train the right person. This position will train for the first 8 to 10 weeks. During this time the hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. After training is completed, the hours will transition to 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Our Miami Plant is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, therefore, the Wastewater Treatment Operator is expected to extend schedule working hours and/or work the night shift to accommodate emergency coverage or complete work in progress, after the training period is over.

Essential Functions

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner
• Monitors incoming wastewater from water tank in oil/water separator
• Removes oil and transfers back to oil processing area by operating pumping system
• Performs sampling to monitor pH level of wastewater and maintains pH level as instructed by supervisor
• Cleans and calibrates pH probe
• Performs chemical dosage as instructed
• Operates & monitors DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) Tank
• Monitors and removes solids from DAF Tank
• Treats sludge from DAF Tank to produce a moisture-free cake
• Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks required to ensure the validity of data
• Perform routine equipment checks and complete related records and s
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and paints area as needed
• Operates forklift in support of wastewater treatment activities
• Maintain the lift station clean and degreased and provide a sample to the lab daily or as needed
• Perform other duties as instructed.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision; to work effectively in limited space with multiple personnel and activities.
• To understand and follow oral/written instructions, work well with culturally diverse people
• Communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
• Understand and perform basic sample testing
• Organize activities to complete tasks in accordance with priorities, address multiple demands, or meet deadlines; ability to organize tasks and working environment to maximize efficiency.
• Focus attention on tasks, which may be complex, routine, or repetitive, without losing concentration or becoming distracted by external activities; adapt to interruptions, instrument/equipment failures, unusual demands, or changing priorities.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and stand for extended periods.

Exterior environment involves hazards, requiring the use of protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, and noise. May be required to wear Half Face piece Respirators, work on ladders and rooftops, and in adverse weather conditions.

Hazards include possible exposure to toxic, corrosive, or flammable chemicals. Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or more than 20 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.)

The technicians’ work involves being around dangerous equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to discriminate against color is helpful.
