GENERAL SUMMARY:
Our clinic is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of physicians and wellness experts who are here to help our patients live healthier, and more active lives. The Exercise Physiologist / Registered Kinesiologist conducts clinical exercise assessments on individual patients, including: review of medical history, completion of exercise capacity assessments (VO2 max testing), muscle strength testing, flexibility, as well as creating physical activity, health and lifestyle programming. The Exercise Physiologist / Registered Kinesiologist will provide customized and tailored exercise prescription guidance and physical activity recommendations based on patient-centered goals through one-on-one consultation and devise an appropriate follow-up plan. The practitioner communicates continually with other members of the Cleveland Clinic Canada interprofessional team of Physicians, Dietitians, Psychologists, Sports Rehab providers (Chiropractors, Physiotherapists), Stress Technicians, Cardiologists, Patient Flow Coordinators, and provides appropriate internal referral follow-ups depending on the patient’s current condition and/or limitations.
Additionally, our providers will also have capacity to guide patients through their course of rehabilitation through in-clinic or virtual private and/or semi-private Movement and Performance (MVP) sessions. The successful candidate will be responsible for building their case-load and work with a variety of patients to provide exercise prescription for those requiring movement based re-education, sport-performance training, or exercise-based rehabilitation, and create and carry out corrective exercise programs that aim to help patients successfully transition back to work, function and activity. This candidate will also liaise with the Sports Rehab team for comprehensive collaboration to ultimately provide the best possible care and service to our patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or a minimum of 2 years in a related field. Advanced training in exercise principles/prescription for clinical populations, graded exercise testing and rehabilitation. An understanding of stress tests, ECG’s and VO2’s.
Required Length and Type of Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
Member in good standing with COKO or CSEP-CEP or ACSM or HFFC
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk. Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients. Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise facility and patient rooms.
SCOPE & OVERVIEW:
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Review chart and interview patient to identify clinical, physiological and psychosocial status.
2. Document patient history, clinical course and current status in medical records.
3. Collect appropriate clinical information, including vitals, muscle strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness.
4. Provide appropriate exercise prescription and recommend appropriate course of follow up.
5. Participate in independent and/or collaborative research.
6. Participate and/or lead professional development sessions.
7. Perform select other duties as assigned.
