We are seeking a Minimum of 15 years related experience in materials, metallurgy, welding engineering, fabrication, and related quality management. Hands-on experience in shop manufacturing,
fabrication, and field construction experience.

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of Sherwood Park, AB.
What you’ll be doing:
Understand customer expectations (voice-of-customer) to ensure products and services deliver
customer-focused solutions
Manage customer relationships and perform product performance reviews, evaluate
warranty/repair issues, conduct regular customer visits, and manage product site testing.
Develop new concepts, products, and solutions by collaborating with the ClearStream WTO
Division stakeholders
Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with ClearStream Marketing and
Operations business units.
Manage and document all phases of research and development, including P&L discipline and
regular reporting to the leadership team.
Execute all phase of research, design and evaluation of materials, product assemblies,
manufacturing processes and welding/automation equipment.
Support the Vice President to hire, manage, and develop R&D personnel and retained
consultants / laboratory service providers.
Monitor team metrics and performance target to ensure business objectives are met.
Determine and integrate value-add technologies used by suppliers, competitors, and customers.
Conduct comprehensive shop floor assessments, in collaboration with welding specialists, to
optimize welding and automation capabilities and define prioritized action items.
Lead the completion of formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of systemic product issues to derive
corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
Launch program to assess causal factors of field performance of products after end-of-life (e.g.
post-mortem) to identify opportunities for product improvement.
Support the adoption of Lean Manufacturing tools in production operations.
Participate in external industry committees, deliver publications at
workshops/conferences, and participate on code committees
Maintain existing and build new strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders including
but not limited to client, technical research and development institutions, academic postsecondary institutions, materials manufacturers, patent offices, government regulatory agencies.

For Engineers, P.Eng. status in good standing in the field of materials or metallurgical engineering
or related field. Special consideration given to International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification.
For Technologists, CET or PTech. status in good standing in the field of materials or welding
engineering technology. Special consideration given to International Welding Technologist (IWT)
certification.
Beneficial for candidates to have a post-secondary degree (MSc or MEng) in materials or
metallurgical engineering or related field.
Previous experience in R&D related to filler metal compositions or related.
Advanced understanding of welding metallurgy as it relates to weld property development and
weld fusion flaws.
Proven track record managing a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to develop and supervise long-term and short-term projects
Skilled at technical communication and providing presentations to multi-disciplinary audiences
Proven track record of implementing novel solutions to technical challenges
