This is an exciting opportunity to join the busy finance team within Financial Services at City of York Council. The City of York is an exciting place to live and work with the council overseeing the delivery of significant infrastructure projects such as York Central, upgrades to the Outer Ring Rad and improvements to the Station. In care services we are working with Health colleagues to introduce new strategic alliances and to deliver the Health and Social Care Bill. The role, reporting to the service accountant, will include core financial tasks such as budget monitoring, maintenance of financial systems and completing final accounts. You will also work closely with service managers in assisting them to maximise their budgets to deliver council priorities.
As a Unitary Authority we provide all council services to residents, businesses and visitors which means the role can be varied. We are looking for motivated individuals who will enjoy working with service managers to ensure these services are of the highest quality and delivered within the financial framework.
If you are AAT qualified (or equivalent qualification) or close to completing the qualification and have experience of working in an accounting or finance role, this could be an excellent opportunity to apply your experience in supporting accounting processes and service managers.
The post is classed as a “Hybrid Worker” making the role attractive not only to local candidates but also those who may live outside of the average commuting distance as you will be expected to work flexibly from home as well as at our award winning offices in central York.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
