Under the general supervision of the Procurement Supervisor, performs responsible administrative work in the procurement of a variety of materials, supplies, equipment, services, professional services, and construction services for the City. Work includes responsibility for reviewing requisitions, preparing purchase orders, conducting market surveys, resolving problems with suppliers. Work involves a high level of interdepartmental cooperation with all City departments. Work is performed within defined purchasing policies in accordance with City Policies, North Carolina Statutes, and Federal Regulations. Work is reviewed by the Procurement Supervisor through observation, written s, conferences, and results obtained. The employee performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or directly related field and one year of professional procurement experience involving the purchase of goods and services, preferably in the public sector.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
