Position Summary:
Are you a savvy communicator who’s ready to connect Portlanders with vital information about their city government and transportation system? Then you might be a great candidate as the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s Associate Social Media and Internal Communications Coordinator. We’re looking for somebody with experience managing social media channels and doing equity-focused communications work to fill this important role.
This role leads in social media content creation including working in the field with crews, writing content to support bureau news releases and blogs, onsite social media at events, and coordinating and executing other ideas. This position also supports the execution of the bureau’s internal communications plan, including conducting staff interviews and writing articles for the bureau newsletter, creation of the weekly bureau-wide email, and creating a welcoming environment for bureau employees through various communications.

  Create content for both social media and internal communications channels.

  Deliver complete content packages for social media and internal communications.

  Assist in monitoring all bureau social media channels, responding to constituents, and flagging content for your team as needed.

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

• 
  Ability to write short, engaging feature content for websites or social media.
• 
  Ability to develop and maintain content planning calendars, keep key stakeholders informed about publication timelines and coordinating stakeholders’ review.
• 
  Ability to publish engaging content to social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and monitoring and responding to audience engagement.
• 
  Knowledge of advancing equity and anti-racism through communications, including the ability to identify stories about culturally specific experiences or programs, racial disparities, and other relevant topics, and to implement best practices in accessibility and language access.
• 
  Ability to collaborate with staff from all City bureaus and City Council offices in fluid circumstances by communicating consistently and considering their feedback.
