Position Overview

The Engineering Parks & Environment requires an auxiliary Park Attendant. You will be responsible for the maintenance and custodial work involving the care and upkeep of public street use areas (parklets), and overseeing the use of civic areas (plazas).
Responsibilities
You will perform manual work entailing general maintenance, collecting litter and emptying garbage containers, cleaning tables and surfaces, answering questions from the public regarding use of the facilities and general inquiries. You will also patrol areas checking for vandalism, monitoring public conduct, and participating in general maintenance and construction work as required. In addition you will liaise with event organizers and may be required to assist in the set up and take down equipment for events.
Requirements
You will have knowledge of practices governing the use, maintenance and layout of parklets and plazas, related experience in streets maintenance and a good knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in general streets maintenance and construction work. A demonstrated ability to perform heavy physical manual work in all types of weather is required. You must also be able to communicate courteously with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.
Compensation
$30.21 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
(January 2021 rates)
Hours of Work
Auxiliary, hours may vary. The schedule will include weekend and evening work.
