Performs entry-level library clerical duties, including checks materials in and out, issues library cards, collects and records overdue fines, categorizes and returns books to shelves, maintains orderly appearance of library; may mend and repair damaged books.

4-day, 36-hour workweek, Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (May vary by position specific needs).

Key Focus of the Role:
Assists patrons with checking books and materials in and out; registering patrons for library cards; and receiving and recording fines.
Assists patrons in finding books and using library services and equipment.
Answers directional, informational questions for patrons by telephone and in person; explains library policies and procedures.
Sorts, arranges and shelves materials.
Assists in opening and closing the library.
Ensures the library is maintained in an orderly manner; ensures that books, videos and other materials are picked up from tables and placed in appropriate locations; that circulation area is kept clear of returned items; that microfiche cards are re-filed, display areas properly arranged; and books, furniture, and equipment straightened as needed.
Collects and processes books, newspapers, and other materials from book depositories.
Mends and repairs damaged books.
Maintains reserved book listings and notifies patrons of arrival and availability of reserved books.
Assists in collecting a variety of statistics on library circulation and services.
May conduct tours of the library for patrons or other community groups.
Checks material orders for completeness; assigns vendor number; researches missing or inaccurate information and audits all information to be used in producing computerized selection list for orders.
Proofreads library cards as they are processed for typographical or other errors.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Attributes:
High school diploma or GED; AND one (1) year of clerical experience preferably in a library.
Completion of two years of college. ( preferred )
Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
