Applications are invited from candidates who wish to apply to become a Police Constable for the City of London Police. The anticipated joining date is September 2022. Applications are also invited from candidates who hold a valid Day 1 pass.

ATOC Rail Travel Concession allows regular serving police officers to travel on National Rail services within a 70 mile radius of London for a small monthly cost. This is a taxable benefit that the City of London Police negotiates and Officers make a contribution to the cost of the scheme.

Entry Routes – there are two entry routes to becoming a Police Officer with City of London Police:
Route 1- (PCDA) – who do not already have a degree.
To be considered for entry to the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship, applicants must in addition to the eligibility criteria above, must hold a Level 2 GCSE/functional skills in English (Minimum Grade C and above) or education equivalent to Level 2 at point of application. Applicants must have a Level 2GCSE in Maths(Grade C and above). If you do not currently hold a Level 2 in Maths, we will support you to achieve this alongside the first two years of training with us. In addition, you must have achieved a minimum of two A Levels Grade A*- C or equivalent Level 3 qualification that is a minimum of 32 UCAS points (you can check how many points your qualification is worth on the UCAS tariff calculator).
Applicants with one A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification or those without any Level 3 qualifications can be considered if they are:
Route 2- (DHEP) who already have a degree.
Applicants are required to provide evidence that they have a UK undergraduate honours degree (360 credits) in any subject. Applicants with non – UK degrees can be considered if their degree is recognised as equivalent by UK National Recognition Information Centre but will need to provide evidence of an acceptable English language qualification if their degree was not taught and assessed in English. This programme takes three years to complete and is jointly provided by Coventry University and City of London Police. It consists of a mixture of classroom based learning and ‘on the job’ training.

Upon successfully completing all elements of the PCDA, including operational and academic assessments, you’ll be awarded a BSc (Hons) degree in Professional Policing Practice and will become a fully qualified substantive Police Officer.
Upon successfully completing all elements of the DHEP, including operational and academic assessments, you’ll be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing and will become a fully qualified substantive Police Officer.
Please be aware that once your application has been submitted you will not be permitted to switch between the PCDA and DHEP entry routes, so you should carefully consider which route is right for you.
ALL RELEVANT EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATES MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE POINT OF YOUR APPLICATION, WITHOUT THESE WE ARE UNABLE TO PROCEED.
All tuition fees for both programmes will be paid for by the City of London Police.

Recruitment Process:
Application Form: We will check you are eligible to apply as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above and review your educational certificates that have been provided. If the application is successful you will be invited to attend a College of Policing Online Assessment Centre. This has been provisionally booked for 17th March – 24th March 2022 and 7th April – 14th April 2022.
A Webinar will be taking place on Saturday 29th January 2022 from 10.00am – 1.00pm which will include guidance on completing the application form as well as other information you may find useful. This will last approximately 2 – 3 hours and will also be recorded. If you are interested in attending the Webinar please register your interest. Please note that if your application is successful you will then be required to apply for entry to Coventry University. Your application will be assessed on the entry criteria above.
