The Seasonal Truck Driver will gain experience across multiple departments by assisting our Roads, Parks, and Sewer & Water crews in their various disciplines at different times throughout the year.
The position will be responsible for sanding/plowing municipal streets along with operating trucks of various sizes and weights for the hauling and unloading of equipment, materials, and supplies.
The position will operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner including the completion of all pre-operational equipment checks.

Qualifications:
– Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
– Must possess and maintain a valid ‘DZ’ Class Ontario Driver’s License. Must provide a clean driving abstract at time of application.
– Three (3) to five (5) years work experience directly related to truck operation and maintenance would be as asset.
– Experience in Heavy Equipment Operation would be considered an asset
– Knowledge of equipment, methods, and procedures used in road maintenance activities.
– Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, sit for prolonged periods of time, and climb in and out of equipment.
– Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
– Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
– Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures.

– Ability to work independently and as a team.
– Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
– Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.
– Must be able to be available for overtime and call-ins.

Hours of Work: Various shifts in accordance with Collective Agreement.
This position will be subject to lay off/recall from the various departments at different times throughout the year.

Salary & benefits: Benefits in accordance with Collective Agreement
Wage $26.87/hr.
