Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Perform payroll functions pursuant to assignment in Payroll Services to ensure employees in assigned department are paid correctly and timely. Maintain payroll service desk, customer in-take, walk-ins and calls. Process payroll documents, check distribution and general payroll inquiries. Position has little discretion and will work under supervision. Prepares and/or monitors general payroll activities, procedures and various s for compliance with city ordinances, policies and procedures.
Maintains department personnel/payroll records and prepares related s. Performs data entry related to time entries and s. Reconcile payroll s. Process payroll wage statements as required. Performs other duties as necessary. All payroll personnel are expected to cross train and become familiar with all duties and tasks required of Payroll Services.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. within an essentially normal office environment.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED.
Experience Requirements
Six (6) months of administrative or customer service related experience is required.
Substitution: An Associate’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement
License Requirements
None
PREFERENCES
Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional Certification (FPC or CPP)
SAP experience and/or KRONOS Experience
