The Crime Analyst is a specialized position involving data collection and research, as well as the application of analytical techniques to develop intelligence s in support of criminal investigations and crime reduction strategies. We are looking for experienced Crime Analysts to provide operational support on a short-notice call-out basis on evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include:
Researching, compiling, evaluating and analyzing investigative and intelligence data from a variety of sources

Developing intelligence products such as association charts, maps, timelines and profile packages

Preparing s and recommendations based upon analysis

Effectively communicating analytical results with the investigative team

Maintaining working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts

Requirements include the completion of a university degree in sociology, criminology, economics, or another discipline related to the work. Preferred candidates will possess work experience in research and crime analysis, excellent verbal and written communications skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and will be proficient in MS Office applications, as well as other software related to crime analysis, including iBase, i2 Analyst Notebook, and ArcGIS.

The City offers an hourly rate of $41.98 to $49.61 per hour plus 12 % in lieu of benefits.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an RCMP top secret security clearance during their course of employment.

Shortlisted applicants are expected to have successfully completed the RCMP Criminal Intelligence entry exam in order to proceed to the interview stage. These applicants will not be required to re-test.
