About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and professional leader to join the Financial Services team as Coordinator Management Accounting. The Financial Services teams’ role is to provide meaningful data and reporting to support the Executive Leadership Team in making business decisions.

The role of the Coordinator Management Accounting is to:

• Lead the Management Accounting team in providing expert financial advice and support to both the Financial Services team and Business Units of Council.
• Build strong relationships with Business Units across the organisation and actively strive to work collaboratively with all areas to provide a customer focused finance service that delivers innovative solutions and improved practices.
• Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget (and revised budget where required)
• Complete Management Financial Reports as required by management and legislation.
• Oversee maintenance of all Financial Systems including upgrades.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation of financial and business systems, processes, procedures, reporting and the end user experience with all key stakeholders.

About You

This is a busy and challenging role, in which you will be required to support and develop a team to work across all business units in order to achieve the objective of the role.

You will require:

• The ability to contribute positively in a team environment to achieve common objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to gain co-operation, discuss and resolve problems with both internal and external key stakeholders.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and techniques in dealing with all levels of both internal and external key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills, including skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising one’s own work and that of other employees.
• Demonstrated experience in budget development and management, within a complex organisation.
• Knowledge of financial accounting and business systems, processes and procedures.
• Sound knowledge of accounting procedures, techniques and policies.
• Proficient in the utilisation of computer based financial systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of auditing procedures and practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• Professionally qualified accountant with current and full membership to either CA, CPA or IPA or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting role.

Key Selection Criteria

• Professionally qualified accountant with current and full membership to either CA, CPA or IPA or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in budget development and management, within a complex organisation.
• Demonstrated experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a business unit, including leading and fostering a high performing team (including task management).
• Strong analytical skills and experience in applying expertise to solving strategic and operational problems.
• Knowledge of financial accounting systems and continuous improvement of financial and business systems, processes, procedures, reporting and the end user experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to negotiate and influence effectively with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent written skills to support internal and external communication and development of reports for management and/or Council.
