Summary of Position:
The Registrar and Director of Curriculum Management supports academic quality and excellence in student experience by creating and managing effective registration and curriculum management processes. This role ensures compliance with program academic requirements and study abroad best practices, manages the CIEE Curriculum Committee to set course offerings using data-driven metrics, provides a responsive, student-centered course selection process, evaluates host institution curricula for US credit conversion, processes grades through CIEE and School of Record academic records, and reports student registration data to facilitate timely and accurate evaluation of academic outcomes. The Registrar and Director of Curriculum Management facilitates and monitors accuracy, consistency, and compliance of CIEE syllabi and their timely publication to sending-schools and students. This position leads a team of registration professionals to collaborate with all stakeholders within the CIEE Outbound Exchanges division in support of college, customized, and high school programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee the Registration team, leading, motivating, develop and mentoring the team
Supervise the management of the collection, recording, maintenance, and reporting of student academic records, including the organization and administration of registration records and production of the CIEE Academic Record
Manage and coordinate the annual curriculum planning process for all programs
Serve as chief liaison to VPAA regarding course data, registration, grades, and academic policy and operational procedures
Provide data in support of analysis of academic outcomes on a semi-annual and ad hoc basis
Advise on and champion development of technology applications to improve operational efficiency, enhance service, and support program growth
Ensure that Registration team effectively collaborates with all CIEE departments, bringing a problem-solving approach in support of program and revenue growth while maintaining academic quality and compliance
Define and manage periodic reviews of program course credit and host institution grade conversion schemes for interpreting international transcripts into recommended U.S. higher education equivalents
Serve as operational liaison to CIEE’s School of Record (SOR) for all grade reporting, student record, and financial aid-related processes
Manage budget for Registration-related revenue and expenses
Skills and Experience:
Previous relevant experience and demonstrated effectiveness and responsibility in a registration function of a U.S. higher education institution or study abroad provider. Experience working with international counterparts strongly desired
Substantial experience with registration systems and other technology tools that support efficiency in scheduling and registration functions. Experience collaborating with IT teams to identify and implement new tools and systems desirable
A strong knowledge of U.S. academic institutions, their academic cultures, and expectations. Familiarity with relevant US higher education laws and best practices to ensure compliance, including FERPA and Title IX. Familiarity with study abroad best practices and standards desirable
Superior problem-solving skills and strong customer service-driving approach
Superior written and verbal communication expertise in English. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and CIEE staff from diverse cultures. Additional language/cultural skills desirable
Master’s or terminal degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in higher education administration, data analytical field, or a related area required
Ability to thrive in a fast pace, highly dynamic work environment
