The Business Engagement Manager (BEM) – Finance and IT is responsible for working with business partners in the Finance business area and Information Technology (IT) organization to foster strategic relationships and to advance capabilities that enable business strategy and create maximum value/impact through solutions where business, information and technology converge.

This individual is responsible to shape business area IT portfolios for Church & Dwight’s Finance and IT business areas in partnership with business area leaders. This is done by working across functions and levels to understand business value opportunities, quantify the investment and its return, think through the commitment needed to execute, and secure the necessary sponsorship, cross-functional alignment, funding, and resourcing.

The BEM orchestrates ideas into outcomes for Finance and IT by mobilizing initiatives, coordinating with IT and business leaders for resources, and participating in the steering/oversight to ensure an initiative meets the original business objectives.

This individual works with Finance business partners and IT leaders to understand the impact of solutions on stakeholders and what will be necessary to manage the business change required to harvest the solution’s value, and then works with the leaders to execute a business transition plan.

The BEM helps mentor more junior BEMs, participates in the BEM Community of Practice, and contributes to improvements to business engagement standards, processes and practices.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

· Responsible for the overall customer satisfaction for the Finance and IT business areas and works within the IT organization to manage the full value chain of IT activities and service level commitments on behalf of the customer
· Aligns IT strategy to business area strategy: engages in the business area’s strategic planning, conducts needs analysis and business risk assessments, and engages the IT customer in the corporate IT strategic planning process. Negotiates the needs of multiple users and business areas.
· Builds and maintains relationships with business, IT, and vendor leadership partners and serves as a trusted advisor to business leadership on technology, information and process needs and activities.
· Assists in creating the business area portfolio of IT investments to deliver optimal business value to the organization aligned with the IT architecture and strategy and ensures that the functional area is appropriately reflected in the global IT budget; assists in managing the portfolio
· Creates and maintains strong relationships with IT partners (VP, Director and Manager levels) and IT peers (e.g., Project Management Office, Delivery, etc.), drives collaboration between IT and the business and serves as the IT point of focus for specific business areas.
· Represents and promotes IT capabilities, identifies specific business and technology opportunities to enable the customer’s business (IT, business process improvement, innovative process reengineering) and collaborates with the IT business partners to define the business value of such opportunities.
· Understands the IT business partner’s business, company direction, emerging technologies, and how competitors and best-in-class companies use technologies and brings creative ideas to CHD on how to leverage technology to a greater extent.
· Promotes business area understanding and adoption of IT processes/tools and standards
· Participates in the BEM Community of Practice and contributes to improvements to business engagement standards, processes and practices

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience; graduate degree preferred
· 5+ years of Information Technology or relevant industry experience, managing information related technologies, resources and projects
· Specific business area knowledge and relevant technology experience in one or more business areas; Finance and IT business area knowledge preferred
· Experience working in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) preferred
· Experience working in a matrixed organization
· Experience employing the skills at the designated proficiency level as indicated in the skills model below
