China Ranch Date Farm and Bakery Hiring for Baker/Retail Associate, Date Field/Sorting Room at Tecopa, California Full Time

China Ranch is looking for a single person or couple who have their own RV to live/work the tourist season from October/Early November to April. We have a small RV park with hookups and access to a common bathroom. Only a few people live on-site, so it is generally pretty relaxing down here.

The main position we are hiring for is the Baking/Retail job, the secondary position is a Date Field/Sorting Room job with some potential retail hours. Starting date is a bit flexible, but we need someone by the first week of November.

Positive attitudes, ability to work and live well with others, and no serious drug or alcohol problems are required. Vaccines are encouraged and appreciated. We are a tight-knit crew of people and like to have fun when working together. The opposite of a corporate atmosphere, China Ranch is a gorgeous and highly desirable place to live seasonally.

Positions we need starting October 2022:

• Baker/Retail Clerk – this person would bake breads and cookies, as well as serve customers at the gift store purchasing items and making date shakes and smoothies. Strong customer service skills are required, as well as the ability to lift 50 lb. bags of flour consistently. Interest or some experience baking is required. Attention to detail and multitasking are necessary skills. This is a physical job.
   
• Swing / Sorting Room/Field Work – this person would be sorting and packing dates as well as doing some field work outside (harvesting dates, clearing field) with potential for retail hours. This is a very physical job and requires being able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time. We are always looking for handiwork, so depending on your skillset, fixing things and working on projects could be a part of this position as well. Pay starts at $14/hr plus tips for bakery/retail hours – depending on need/time of the season, hours can be somewhat flexible, but will largely be 3-5 days a week. 

Accommodations: No cell service at China Ranch, but a few spots of service up above, and Wifi available at the store, which is about a block from where you would live. There is a double-wide trailer that houses Wwoof volunteers – it has two functional bathrooms, a kitchen, games, TV and DVD player with plenty of DVDs, which you would be welcome to use as well. China Ranch is a gorgeous place for people who like to hike and get away, and October through April are the ideal months to enjoy the beauty of the area. There are hot springs 4 miles away in Tecopa Hot Springs and several seasonal breweries and restaurants are open during the Fall through Spring.
