Children’s Hospital & Medical Center Hiring for Sr Accountant / Corporate Finance Job at Omaha, NE Full Time

We’re searching for a Senior Accountant to perform general accounting functions and maintain records related to cash, investments, receivables, inventory, prepaid assets, fixed assets, capital management, leases, accrued expenses, other liabilities and/or net assets. Complete activities in accordance with GAAP, healthcare, and NFP accounting standards. Perform variance analysis, interpret results, and analyze data to prepare reports, analysis, budgets, and forecasts. Lead projects, acts as leader on the team, and provides training and guidance to other staff members.

Essential Functions

• Performs general accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, healthcare, and NFP accounting standards for assigned areas and accounts
• Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain and reconcile the general ledger account balances
• Perform financial statement analysis including actual to budget variance explanations, trending analysis, and developing expectations/projections
• Prepares and analyzes data and reports and effectively communicate results
• Assist and prepare with internal and external audits, surveys and other internal and external reporting
• Prepare or assist in budget preparation for assigned areas
• Continuously seek efficiencies in processes, make and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures
• Support system workflow improvement opportunities through researching system functionality, making recommendations, and implementing approved changes
• Develop and maintain resource guides, reference material, training tools, desktop procedures, and process documentation
• Maintain working knowledge of GAAP, healthcare and NFP accounting standards
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, practices, procedures, governmental regulations, and contractual obligations
• Assists in maintaining and updating internal controls over financial reporting.
• Performs and/or assists in technical accounting research and implementation.
• Provide excellent customer service, develop strong relationships, and collaborate with others

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting required
• Four years of experience in business, accounting, or related field required including working with financial systems
• Master of Accounting or MBA preferred
• CPA preferred
