Talent Acquisition Lead – maximum term up to 12 months

No one day is the same and I know this because I currently perform the role of Talent Acquisition Lead. This role has recently become available as I am soon to commence my Parental leave in October 2022. I don’t want to this to read like your typical advert, instead I wanted to provide some personal insight into this role from the perspective of someone who has had the pleasure of holding this position for 4 years.

First and foremost, the Children’s Cancer Institute is the only independent medical research institute in Australia dedicated to research into the causes, prevention, better treatments and ultimately a cure for childhood cancer. What we need from you

Reporting to the Head of People and Culture, you can make this role your own and be supported to drive the candidate experience. You are an advocate for culture and thereby you hold significant influence as you will be responsible for finding our best fit people in both research and professional teams and enabled by a highly self motivated and very bright Recruitment Administrator.

We have grown at an exponential rate and continue to expand with the development of our new home in the Minderoo Comprehensive Children’s Cancer Centre, due for completion in 2025. A multi-million-dollar project adjoined to the Children’s Hospital based in Randwick, this will provide world leading care for kids with cancer and be one of its kind.

In scope in this role, we seek someone who can:

• Manage and facilitate the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle and continuously improve the candidate experience.
• Support the implementation of a new Applicant Tracking System.
• Find great fit new hires that meet resourcing requirements for the Institute and expectations of individual Hiring Managers with tailored best practice talent acquisition methodology.
• Support, communicate and educate everyone on the effective use of HR tools, policies, systems and processes which govern the talent life cycle
• Provide quality talent metrics and analysis to support the talent acquisition planning process and sourcing strategies.
• Manage recruitment agency partnerships.
• Strategically build the talent acquisition function through internal and external relationship building, developing talent acquisition plans, talent toolkits, and promoting a new EVP in consultation with the People & Culture and Marketing teams.
• Actively participate in People & Culture special projects, initiatives or programs as required and share knowledge within the team

What you bring

• Minimum 3 years talent acquisition experience, preferably in house.
• Experience in developing the candidate experience and coaching hiring managers in Talent Acquisition practices.
• Experience and knowledge of a broad range of selection techniques including behavioural interviewing, assessment centres, psychology, methods, tools and strategies
• Experience in using automated processes in talent acquisition systems, data analytics and reporting.
• Confidence in writing and communicating on digital platforms including social media.
• Experience in negotiating salaries and agency rates.
• A working knowledge of the impacts and activities to mitigate unconscious bias on sourcing and hiring decisions.
• Knowledge of Human Resource Management principles and legislation
