Chief Financial Officer – Home Office Job at Charleston, SC US Full Time

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the Company in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry and serves as an integral member of the executive leadership team. This position will provide overall direction and guidance to the Accounting, Human Resources and Training, and Information Technology departments for Harmony Senior Services in accordance with the policies of the management company, the Company Owners, and Federal/State/Local laws and regulations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the strategic direction and management of the company’s financial, accounting, and planning functions. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance.
• Oversees all financial management, to include Accounting, Budgets, Forecasting, Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis, Internal Controls, Treasury, Financial Policy Development and Banking.
• Participate in the development of the Company’s plans and programs as a strategic partner.
• Implementation of operations and systems to drive the Company to achieve and surpass business goals and objectives.
• Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
• Generate reports based on the Company’s statistics to properly reflect the effectiveness of all processes.
• Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities. Maintain a 5 year rolling forecast.
• Develop, implement and clearly communicate growth strategies efficiently.
• Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company.
• Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
• Preliminary budget preparation for all communities. Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of Community leaders on financial issues impacting department budgets.
• Work with senior leadership to develop financial strategies and key performance metrics to enhance profitability, maintain sufficient liquidity, leverage tax opportunities, manage cash flow and limit risk.
• Provide leadership of the Accounting Department, as well as ensure internal controls and procedures to meet regulatory guidelines and established goals. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
• Responsible for the reconciliation of general ledgers and the preparation of monthly journal entries.
• Safeguard assets and assure accurate recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audit, controls and checks across all communities.
• Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position. Monitoring of cash position for all communities. Open new bank accounts for buildings in development.
• Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
• Collaborate with the Managing principals regarding all updates and/or changes to operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel.
• Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the Company may enter.
• Management of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, credits and collections, payroll, general and entity accounting. Evaluate the finance/accounting department structure and plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional growth.
• Represent the Company as the Point of Contact for clients, investors and business partners. Interface with outside audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agents, credit card companies, and collection agencies.
• Special projects or management reports as needed.
• Oversees the Network Administrator and the operations of the Information Technology department to maximize the effectiveness of data collection, processing and reporting. Maintains a basic understanding of IT functions.
• Oversees the Vice President of Human Resources and the operations of the Human Resources and Training department.
• Builds professional working relationships with contractual providers and evaluates performance.
• Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the information technology department and functions. Periodically evaluates all IT systems for improvement to meet organizational needs.
• Other duties as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; Master’s degree in business, finance or related field preferred; CPA a plus.
• (10+) years accounting and finance experience with a growing company; (5+) years progressive work experience in a Chief Financial Officer or Senior Leadership role ;
• Experience in Real Estate Development is a must; Senior Housing experience essential.
• Experience in the Treasury function, rent payments, and keeping minimum cash thresholds.
• Experience leading change and process improvement.
• Experience leading the Human Resources and Learning and Development functions for a large organization.
• Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to perform complex analytics, identify trend analyses and interpret data, driving business results. Strong business acumen with a demonstrated record of progressive thinking.
• Demonstrated leadership skill with the ability to build professional relationships and to work as part of a team
• Must possess a technical understanding of Information Technology
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to utilize problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong presentation, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to lift, carry, and push up to 25lbs
