This internship opportunity has a targeted duration of (8-16) months, beginning in May 2022.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Petroleum Engineering Intern in Calgary, Alberta until Monday, February 14, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Work in a multi-discipline team to quantify the uncertainties of the reservoir, monitor competitor activity, and perform studies to identify trends or performance improvement opportunities.
Analyze petroleum engineering problems using supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
System design and architecture of machine learning pipelines for well characterization workflows. Support deploying code to automate and improve the quality of reservoir assessments.
Lead an analytics-based work-term project, blending engineering and data science principles to tackle a novel problem.
Analyze recently drilled and completed wells once on production to evaluate completion effectiveness and any well interference effects.
Support other Petroleum Engineers and Earth Scientists within the group with ad hoc requests and projects.
Actively participate as a partner with peer Engineering and Operations teams to ensure personal & process safety, environmental, reliability, regulatory compliance, and business objectives are achieved.
Qualifications:
Pursuing Bachelor’s degree or Graduate Program in Petroleum, Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Civil Engineeri ng disciplines will be considered.
Demonstrated high level of academic performance.
Good communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Strong work ethic with internal drive to succeed.
Strong computer applications knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Computer programming is an asset ( VBA, Python, R)
Data analytics knowledge of tree-based, Gaussian process, and neural network models are valued but not required.
Previous oil and gas related internship experience is an asset.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
