About the team

The People Advisory team are our regional People generalists, who span across partnering and operations, acting as the advisor to the business and the People team on the market(s) they oversee.

People Advisors combine credible activism, culture and change stewardship and our role as organisational developers to build and strengthen Checkout.com’s colleague experience across the globe. From APAC to the Americas, MENAP to EMEA, our People Advisors provide critical awareness and understanding on the regions that we serve today and how we manage our geographical footprint.

The Role

As a HR Advisor within the People Advisory team, you will share responsibility for the health, compliance and engagement for the region and/or markets that you are responsible for. You will build, optimise and iterate on the core components across the employee lifecycle. As a guardian of local communication and culture, you will provide critical cut through for Checkout.com’ People Strategy and act as a key conduit to see that our department KRs and big rocks land with success.

This role will report to the Senior Manager, People Advisory (Europe) and will be primarily focussed on the UK market with opportunity to drive in other expanding EMEA regions, notably where we don’t have local People Advisory support in place.

You’ll have good working knowledge for your market(s), including the basics around employment law and best employment practices, as well as experience of and/or capability as a partner to drive value across the talent agenda regionally. You’ll have had exposure to matrixed organisations, scale-up ecosystems where there are foundations to lay and, most importantly, have a flexible approach across all strategic, tactical and operational aspects of HR.

What you will be doing:

• People Business Partners – strong alignment and close working relationship with the department PBPs to support cyclical and situational business priorities, organisational design and development programmes, as well as advisory on regional best practice.
• Employee Relations – build on a solid foundational knowledge of local ER issues, seeking simplicity in complexity and developing the organisation’s zero tolerance policy to misconduct and poor performance.
• Legal – work closely with counterparts in the Employment Law team to review and update documentation of current markets and those that we expand into including contracts of employment and how we manage employee relations cases.
• Practices – assess and advise on regional application of global policy, acting as a decision-maker on the level and timing of local deviation and where a globally unified approach does not apply in practice.
• Employee lifecycle – review, iterate and optimise process design and experience for key employee lifecycle activity, including changes and offboarding.
• People Services – as a central People Services team is in creation, hold responsibility (through the team) for developing and meeting SLAs to system updates and other queries as they arise through a central inbox or Slack.
• As a core part of the EMEA People Advisory Regional team, create a community of togetherness and cohesion that facilitates growth and development.
• Work across all departments and groups within the market, site and region to foster a strong, local leadership team who are engaged and supported.
• Build and drive manager capability locally. Through coaching and guidance as well as more formal interventions via the central Talent Management and Reward team.

About you:

• Experience of being part of and managing transformational and organisational change
• Familiarity with employee relations in the UK market
• Experience delivering multiple change projects simultaneously
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders up to senior levels
• Comfortable with ambiguity, ability to flex and adapt and resilient through periods of change
• Not afraid to challenge; ensuring the right decisions are made for our people and our business.
