Charlton Athletic Football Club are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hardworking Finance Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible primarily for ensuring the smooth running of the purchase ledger function by ensuring timely production of information and maintaining good supplier relations.
Due to the nature of the work involved, the job holder must be trustworthy and a good team player.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Check that invoices received have relevant purchase orders on the system.
• Loading all purchase invoices onto the system and match against relevant PO.
• Push all authorised invoices through to accounting software
• Review all invoices outstanding on the system on a daily basis.
• Production of information for management accounts including prepayments;
• Responding to all supplier queries
• Liaising with managers regarding the authorisation of invoices.
• Weekly bank reconciliation for the purchase ledger
• Responsible for the petty cash across two sites
• Inputting of payroll journals and other payroll responsibilities as and when required
• Preparation of payment run based on aged creditors listing and allocation of payment against creditor
• Supplier statement reconciliation
• Management of the payment of football agents, including liaison with the club secretary and responsible for administration of player contracts
• Expenses and credit card reconciliations
• Other ad-hoc projects as requested by the Finance Manager

MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications/Training:

• Minimum 5 grade A-C GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths
• Accounting technician qualification desirable

Desirable:

• Relevant experience in a Finance Assistant role

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

• Able to demonstrate high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong reconciliation skills
• Ability to assist in analysis of financial data
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and accounting system
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff at all levels across several departments
