What does a School Age Childcare Teacher do?

• Planning, supervising, and implementation of a quality after- and before-school child care program in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the Channel Islands YMCA.
• Maintain proper control using constructive methods, keeping in mind each childs individual needs.
• Supervises up to 12 children, enforcing rules, which will provide a fun, safe environment for all.
• Plan, prepares, implements, and evaluates activities on a monthly basis.
• Assist in maintaining general neatness in the classroom
• Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain a professional attitude with parents, staff, school personnel and children at all times.
• Continue professional growth through attendance of classes, education meetings, conferences, and workshops deemed necessary by a supervisor.
• Completes any other task as assigned by the Site Supervisor, and/or Program Director.
• Actively participates and supports parent involvement activities.
• May be called upon to substitute in the absence of the Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

#CIYMCAHIGH

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
• Complete a minimum of 3 semester units of supervised field experiences in a childhood education setting
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance
• Ability and flexibility to work before and after school hours shifts
• Health Screening and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment
