Champion Data is seeking expressions of interest for highly motivated people to join our casual match day data collection team in South Australia – Adelaide (SANFL League, Reserves, U16, U18 & Women’s competitions).

Key Responsibilities

There are positions available across various roles during the 2024 Season for the SANFL League, Reserves, U16, U18 & Women’s competitions which are outlined below:

• LIVE CALLER (call live player statistics to capture operator using a pair of binoculars provided by the employee) –role conducted at venue.
• LIVE CALLER SUPPORT (assist Caller with live stats call using a pair of binoculars provided by the employee) –role conducted at venue.
• AT-GROUND INTERCHANGE CALLER (identify and call players as they move on and off the ground to at-ground interchange capture operator) – role conducted at venue.
• AT-GROUND INTERCHANGE CAPTURE (capture players as they move on and off the ground as called by the at-ground interchange caller using a computer and mouse provided by the company) – role conducted at venue.

Employees are retained across seasons therefore successful applicants can continue with the company for future years without reapplying.

About You

• High availability for scheduled matches as per the 2024 SANFL League, Reserves, U16, U18 & Women’s Fixtures
• A thorough knowledge of the rules of AFL (essential)
• A proven record in accountability, reliability, and punctuality
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Familiarity with Windows environments
• Capable under pressure
• Work on a rotating roster alongside existing casual staff
• Communicate openly by exchanging information and actively listening to all stakeholders
• Work together collaboratively to achieve outstanding results

• Capacity to commute to fixtured venues (venue-based roles)

Application / Training Timeline

Applicants must be able to commit to the following during the paid training process:

• Approximately 10 – 15 one-hour online sessions with their trainer between January and March and 2 three-hour sessions at venue in March/April when live matches are being played (Caller/Support roles)
• Approximately 1-2 one-hour online sessions with their trainer between February and March and up to 2 three-hour sessions at venue in March/April when live matches are being played (Interchange Caller/Capture roles)

Training content will need to be completed via an online Learning Management System in preparation for the one-on-one sessions, this time is unpaid.

Suitable applicants will be asked to complete an online 30-45 minute evaluation for either the Calling or Interchange roles and, if the score is adequate, will be asked to participate in an online interview.
