CGI Hiring for Software Engineer – PostgreSQL Job at Reading, England Full Time

Position Description
Our Software Engineering teams are bursting with talent, and are trusted to help deliver transformative digital work for high profile private and public sector clients. We need a Software Engineer with experience of PostgreSQL to join our team helping to migrate databases from Oracle to AWS Cloud.

All applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (SC) level.

Your future duties and responsibilities
You’ll join a dedicated team tasked with migrating a very large Oracle 11gR1 database and PL/SQL code to PostgreSQL in AWS Cloud. This programme is in its infancy so an excellent opportunity for an engineer with the right knowledge and experience to make a deep impact upon the shape and direction of the programme
Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Make or guide architectural decisions on the migration approach
• Model the solutions approach and tooling
• Support the software’s development and testing

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Required Competencies:

• PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL – Very Good
• Oracle PL/SQL – Good
• Schema conversion of PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL – Very Good
• Data Migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL – Very Good
• PostgreSQL Performance Tuning – Good

Desired Competencies:

• AWS Cloud Services
• Enterprise DB Migration Tools
• Ora2Pg
• Git
