CEMEX Hiring for PROFESSIONAL TALENT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER – CEMENT at Apple Valley, CA Full Time

Job Summary

Individuals hired as Talent Development Professionals (TDPs) in Cement will be placed in a 12-month intensive, hands-on developmental program that will build the foundation for a successful career in CEMEX USA. During the program, TDPs will learn the operational aspects of Cement Operations to become a subject matter expert in their field. In addition, TDPs will participate in leadership development sessions to enhance management capabilities and participate in project-based learning to collaborate and network with others.

Job Responsibilities

This will be a rotational program with assignments at a cement plant and will include hands-on training projects, simulations, and other experiential learning opportunities.

Participants will also be introduced to the relationships between cement and CEMEX’s other business lines,

• including ready-mix concrete and aggregates, as well as various critical support roles within the organization.
• Acquire specific knowledge of cement manufacturing and business practices
• Learn by working in specific job positions (hands-on experience)
• Develop technical and managerial skills
• Enhance leadership capabilities
• Acquire a sense of global business
• Obtain a network of contacts and resources
• Present continuous improvement ideas
• Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations
• Meet or exceed company safety standards; be an advocate for safety
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in:

• Geology Degrees
• Mining Degrees

4 years or less of work experience after graduation

Prior industrial experience strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated leadership abilities and initiative
• Demonstrated capability of conducting hands-on field work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Team oriented

Working Conditions

• Capability to work extended hours as necessary
• Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
• Ability to participate in required overnight travel as necessary
• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
• Must wear protective equipment while at the location
• Willing to relocate domestically

Physical Requirements

• Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
• Ability to lift upwards of 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work in hot, cold or dusty environments
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel, walk or sit for extended periods

The expected base compensation for this position ranges from $60,800/year to $73,400/year depending on, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skill sets, experience, and education.
