Stafford House International has over 60 years’ experience in providing international students with great English language courses both in the UK and Canada. Whether students want to learn English for everyday life, their career or to progress into academic study, we have the ideal course and location to suit. OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
Stafford House School of English provides intensive English language courses to foreign students enrolled at the school. EFL teachers at Stafford House School of English may be asked to teach on any one of our courses depending on experience and qualifications.
REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Director of Studies.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Teaching EFL classes as per timetable
Our timetable may vary and so flexibility is required from all staff. Classes may include (but is not limited to) the following:
General English from Beginner to Advanced level
Exam preparation classes (IELTS and Cambridge exams)
Business English
Academic English
English for specific purposes
Excursion or project courses
Option courses as agreed with the Director of Studies
Online Lessons
Some classes may be for young students from age 14 and so must be adapted accordingly.
Class preparation
Each teacher will be responsible for preparing their classes in advance and drawing up a Scheme of Work that will be displayed in the classroom and will be available online (via Symba) as a record of work covered by each student.
Teachers are encouraged to share teaching resources with each other to provide a supportive learning environment for both our staff and our students.
Training and Development
Stafford House School of English will support all staff in their training and personal development needs. A full induction will be provided to all new teachers, and regular training will be offered. All teachers are expected to attend fortnightly INSET sessions, and teachers will be asked to run development or training sessions as required.
Regular classroom observations will take place to support personal development, to assess performance and to review the courses that we run. DELTA qualified teachers may be asked to carry out observations and give feedback to colleagues.
Development Hours
Permanent teachers are expected to complete a certain number of development hours per week. These can be used towards any activities that help develop the school or contribute to the teacher’s own continuing professional development (exclusive of regular lesson planning). Teachers will have regular meetings with the DoS to set objectives and measure progress towards those objectives.
Other
As we are responsible for students under the age of 18 every member of staff has a duty of care to the students in our school.
Teachers are encouraged to become involved in the students’ social programme and will be paid accordingly either for organisation and planning or for leading events.
When teaching on the closed group programme teachers will be asked to participate in activities and excursions as agreed with the social co-ordinator.
Teachers are expected to be on site no later than 15 minutes before the start of their first lesson.

The job requires that you have:
Degree or equivalent
CELTA or equivalent (essential)
DELTA or equivalent (preferred)
Experience of English for Academic Purposes (preferred)
Experience of teaching for exam preparation (preferred)
Experience of teaching using Interactive Whiteboards (Promethean)
Commitment to delivering high quality lessons
Creative lesson content and design
A desire to continue to develop professionally
Enthusiasm and commitment to working as a team
Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages
Experience of working with under 18s
