The Role

The Behaviour Consultant provides specialist skills to support schools to create learning environments where all students feel safe and have the opportunity to flourish.

The Behaviour Consultant will also provide support for students who are disengaged from learning or who may have complex and/or challenging behaviours. They will work with schools to determine student and teacher needs and collaborate to provide appropriate intervention.

This is a full-time maximum term position commencing as soon as possible and concluding 31 December 2022.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• To work with schools to support whole-school processes around creating positive learning environments
• To work with schools to implement preventative approaches which improve student behaviour
• To assist schools with identification, intervention and support for students with complex and/or challenging behaviour
• To provide a case management approach to school staff to enable them to work in partnership with families and assist with the development and review of plans and strategies
• To plan, develop and deliver professional learning and behaviour-related training to schools via a multi-tiered system of support framework
• To work collaboratively and provide advice and support to members of the PSW team, as well as other teams within Catholic Education Western Australia

Your Background

• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current research and interventions relevant to student behaviour within a school context
• Ability to implement a multi-tiered system of support in relation to student behaviour
• Ability to identify, assess and develop interventions that support students with complex and/ or challenging behaviour
• Ability to provide consultation services, including advice and support to principals, teachers, parents and other stakeholders
• Ability to develop and deliver professional learning, assist with policy development and support organisational change
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain strong professional relationships with school staff, parents and stakeholders
