Castlewood Apparel Corp Hiring for Designer – Ladies Active Wear – $90K at New York, New York Full Time

We are seeking an experienced hand’s on Ladies Active Wear designer for a national brand, as well as private label and house brands who is highly motivated and a detail-oriented team player.

Job Description:

Position Title:       Designer – Ladies Activewear

Reports to:             Design Director

Position Summary

This position requires a versatile, nimble, and multi-talented individual that can design different product categories to support multiple opportunities and projects. Must understand the pulse of the activewear market.

• Collaborate with Design Director and team to set the seasonal color story and design concepts.
• Work independently on design projects and collaborate frequently throughout the process to monitor progress and stay on track.
• Design garments as well as print patterns, graphics, and occasionally hangtags/packaging.
• Develop new fabrics and trims with mills.
• Create tech packs, artwork, and communicate all necessary information to factories to generate development samples and costs. 
• Evaluate lab dips, strike-offs, hangtags, trims, and bulk fabric, and communicate comments to factories. 
• Follow up with factories on sample schedule to ensure samples are received on time.
• Create CAD presentations and participate in sales presentations.
• Work with buyers in developing programs and follow up through the production process. 
• Tailor tech packs for production orders.
• Review fit samples with technical design to maintain the integrity and fit of the product.
• Research Shopping as needed.
• Meet with color and trend services seasonally.
• Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabrications.
• Ability to take direction, multi-task, and work well in a friendly fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

• 4-year degree in apparel design, and a minimum of 5+ years experience in the related category, or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in CAD illustration, print, pattern, and graphic design as well as flat sketch design.
• Proficient in the following software: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Demonstrated high taste level and creative ability.
• Knowledge of apparel design and product development processes, including textiles, and garment manufacturing.
• Presentation and organization skills.
• Proven design expertise in a given category.
• Commercial sense and market knowledge.
• Team player.
• Strong listening skills and experience assimilating product feedback.
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines.
• Demonstrated proactive thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to research and apply market/trend information
