Design- 70%

– Sketching and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create solutions for a variety of simple to complex problems.

– Reviewing design directions with management creating presentations for internal and sales presentations.

– Designing new products and creating manufacture-ready 3D CAD files using Solidworks.

– Participate in early stages of product devleopmeht to ensure the product is manufactured within cost and target profit margines while delivering a compelling product.

Cross-functional Collaboration- 15%

– Working with overseas office and factories to optimize tooling, communicate design features, and identify potential cost savings.

– Creating graphics for product instructions and partnering with structural engineer for product scale updates.

Research – 15%

– Product and category research, which may include in-home visits, interviews, and focus groups to help uncover unmet needs.

– Support senior designer in design and development

– Communicating with factories and/or model-makers to develop innovative products

– Work with development team on cost engineering and compliance issues

Experience and Skills

– 4-year degree in industrial design required.

– 1+ years professional design experience (toy and childrens product background preferred).

– Experience designing for injection-molding, soft goods and general DFM.

– Experience working with overseas factories is preferred. Advanced SolidWorks skills required (proficiency in Keyshot is a plus).

– Proficiency in Adobe CS and Microsoft Office.

– Ability to communicate ideas through sketching and verbally presenting the concept.

– Clean, modern aesthetic and a love of function.

– Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

– Ability to collaborate well in a team environment throughout the design process.
