JOB PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Live in gardener to maintain the gardens and grounds of a country house.

LOCATION: Overton, Hampshire

OVERVIEW

Our client is looking for a trustworthy, experienced and enthusiastic person to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the garden.

This is an excellent position for someone who likes to work on their own and use their initiative. The gardening work will include taking lead of all care and maintenance of the 18-acre formal lawns, kitchen garden, wildflower meadows, tennis court, maze, ponds and lakes. General handyman jobs and tasks will also be part of the job.

This is a hands-on position involving the digging and preparing of garden borders and the woodland garden as well as working with potted plants in greenhouses and also mowing lawns, pest control, tree pruning and many other common garden duties.

The position is generally full time Monday to Friday but there may be occasional weekend work and the applicants will need to be flexible.

SCHEDULE

RELEVANT SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Gardening & Horticultural experience: 4+ years (preferred) knowledge and understanding at both theoretical and practical level.
• Operational and commercial experience of managing a garden.
• You will be a good team worker who is enthusiastic and interested in plants, lawn care, pruning, propagation and machinery. You will have excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance; (tractors, chainsaws, and pedestrian mowers).
• Full Driving Licence is essential.
• PA1 and PA6 pesticide training desirable.
• CS30 chainsaw training desirable.
• Familiar with relevant health & safety legislation
• First Aid
